Chapter 3 builds on the principles from Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. This time, I will give you a simple tip that will help you adopt the previous techniques while showing you an intuitive way to shape your golf shots.

In chapter 1 I explained how I was having trouble with my chipping and pitching because I was overly concerned with the lie forcing me to make jerky movements to try to help the ball into the air. I realized that I was hitting at the ball instead of through it. My solution was to simply not look at the ball! I would look way ahead and focus on the landing point which produced some very positive effects… once I got over the nerves of being scared of whiffing the ball.

Today, I will show you a less frightful tip that can be used to improve your contact on all shots, and, it will help you shape your shots intuitively! Instead of looking way down the line, with this method, you only look a yard or two ahead of your ball. This will trick your body into swinging through the ball, instead of at it, and create excellent contact.

The Memorial Tournament is one of the most popular PGA Tour tournaments among players and fans. It always attract the best players in the world and this year makes no difference. This week we will see in action seven from the best ten golfers on the planet and several major champions like Shane Lowry, Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect professional sport and golf in particular. Last week the German authorities put United Kingdom on its travel ‘red list’ and as a result the schedule of this week's Porsche European Open was changed. The tournament is reduced to 54 holes and will be played from Saturday June 5 to Monday June 7. The change will allow vast majority of players, caddies and European Tour staff to enter Germany without observing a mandatory quarantine period.

The Colonial Country Club, host of this week's Charles Schwab Challenge, was too big challenge for some of the favorites and surprisingly we won't see them during the weekend. The cut line was set at one over par and here is our list with three notable names who didn't match this score.

Bernd Wiesberg started the defense of his title from 2019 in style and after rounds of 66 and 65 leads the way before the third round of the 2021 Made in HimmerLand presented by FREJA. Not all big name in the tournament were so fortunate and we won't see some notable names during the weekend. Let's start with...

The PGA Tour moves to Texas for this week's Charles Schwab Challenge. World number 16 Daniel Berger will defend his title against a strong field including last week PGA Championship winner Phil Mickelson.

Untergegangene Golfplätze

Wenn man, wie ich, in einer Gegend Deutschlands wohnt,
die eine relative Dichte an Golfanlagen aufweist, kann man der Versuchung
verfallen, diese Golfplätze als traditionelle Sporteinrichtungen anzusehen, die
das örtliche Angebot an sportlicher Betätigung schon jahrzehntelang bereichern.
Ein Blick auf die Gründungsdaten der Vereine zeigt dann relativ schnell, wie
jung manche Anlagen im nationalen und besonders internationalen Vergleich sind.
Noch weniger wird der „unbedarfte“ Golfer erwarten, dass es Plätze gibt, die vor
100 Jahren bereits das Golfspielen in Deutschland populär machten, heute aber
nicht mehr existieren. Mehr noch, in den meisten Fällen ist ihre Lokalisierung,
Ausdehnung, Bahnenanzahl sowie technische bzw. gastronomische Ausstattung
genauso wenig rekonstruierbar, wie die Clubhistorie oder das Clubleben. Sie
hörten aus den unterschiedlichsten Gründen auf zu existieren und gerieten in
Vergessenheit

HimmerLand near Farsø, Denmark, is the next stop for the European Tour. This will be the seventh edition of the tournament who was previously known as Made in Denmark.

4. This title comes 17 years after his first major triumph - the 2004 Masters
5. Mickelson becomes the oldest player to win a major. Mickelson, 50 years, 11 months and 8 days old, beats the record of Julius Boros who was 48 years, 4 months and18 days old when won the PGA Championship in 1968.
6. This week Mickelson made his 97th cut in a major from 113  starts.
7. Mickelson is 20 years older than Brooks Koepka who played alongside him in the final round
8. Mickelson captured his sixth major after he already won twice on the PGA Tour Champions
9. He had his brother Tim on the bag

As expected The Ocean Course was a big challenge for the best players in the world during the first round of the 103rd PGA Championship. Only 40 golfers played the course on better in day one and we already see some surprising names on the first page of the leaderboard.

The players who will tee off at this week's PGA Championship will face a big challenge. Not only because of the strong winds at the Kiawah shore, but also because of the length of The Ocean Course. The course is measured at 7,876 yards which makes it the longest course ever to host a major. Let's dig into the stats of and see how the champions at the five "longest" majors have performed from the tee on their road to victory.

12. bis 16. Mai ihren zweiten virtuellen Golf-Kongress. Fabian Bünker,
Headcoach von „Golf in leicht“, hatte insgesamt 32 Expertinnen
und Experten virtuell versammelt, um über unterschiedliche Aspekte des Golfsports zu
referieren. Ein komplette Themenliste findet Ihr unter www.derfreizeitgolfer.de An fünf aufeinander folgenden Tagen konnte man die Vorträge live
verfolgen. Wer früh genug dran war, hatte sich einen kostenlosen Zugang gesichert.
Dieser berechtigte zum Liveerlebnis ebenso, wie zum versetzten Zuschauen, für
24 Stunden. Leider funktionierte mein Zugang die ersten beiden Tage nicht,
sodass ich einige interessante Inhalte zunächst verpasste. Die Hotline
reagierte jedoch schnell und fand eine Lösung, mir doch noch den Zugriff
auf die ersten Vorträge zu ermöglichen. Vielen Dank dafür!
