Shoes, balls, clubs: 2021 equipment highlights

Golf equipment and products in 2021 have gotten off to a surprising start. Golf fashion is edging into the realm of streetwear as more and more manufacturers are opting for modern, young designs. From head to toe, this spring is all about style. And when it comes to equipment, refining your game is priority 1.

Going Hybrid: The Ecco Golf Biom H4

This shoe is perfectly designed for on and off the golf course. Unconventional in shape, these trainers are specially designed to support your foot over long distances. The elegant yet subdued colour scheme means that these shoes won't be going out of style any time soon.

Time for a change?

Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Martin Kaymer have already made the switch. TaylorMade is putting a lot of pressure on market leader Titleist with its improved TP5 and TP5x golf balls. TaylorMade golf balls have already gained in popularity in recent years, both on the tour and in golf clubs.

The reason behind the former underdog's success lies in its design. The new dimples reduce air resistance and thus provide more length, a big plus for many hobby golfers. Around the green, too, the TP5 and TP5x are impressive performers. Specially adapted for a soft feel, your short game spin is maintained, thanks to it's dual-spin cover.

Bright and colourful: Puma keeps setting trends

Puma has always been known for its modern and colourful collections over the years, so it's no surprise that they're coming out with eye-catchers again in 2021. The brand's unusual designs are right on trend and are full of bold, new ideas. Puma even more in tune with the spirit of the times with its First Mile collection; made from recycled plastic and the first sustainable collection from Puma Golf.

Bryson DeChambeau, 27, was wearing a polo shirt from PUMA's 2020 Arnold Palmer collection when he won this year's Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 7.

"The simpler the better"

In the past, pure performance was often the most important thing about golf clubs. But more compact club heads, increased distanced only on direct hits and crazy spin characteristics made it difficult for the average golfer - even if the pros loved it.

This trend is coming to a timely end in 2021. Manufacturers are changing course and placing more and more emphasis on grassroots sports.

Callaway already introduced their new mantra in autumn 2020. With their Big Bertha B21 series, they are declaring war on the slice. There is also a new Big Bertha series for the ladies of the golf world, Big Bertha Reva. Reva stands out from the crowd with lighter shafts, heads and grips as well as its adapted lofts, heads and shaft lengths, all with the aim of simplifying the game and getting back to basics.
