PGA Tour: Three players who failed to make the cut at Palmetto Championship at Congaree

Palmetto Championship at Congaree is the last stop on the PGA Tour before next week's U.S Open. Some of the players this week who were considered as favorites had disappointing two days and surprisingly didn't make the cut at Congaree which was set at one over par.

Alex Noren is not the biggest star on the PGA Tour, but he is one of the most consistent players out there. This will be Noren's first missed cut in his last eight tournaments. The last time the Swede failed to make the weekend was in mid-March at the Players Championship. On Friday Noren bogeyed two of his final five holes on his way to second round 73. This sent him to two over par for the tournament, just a shot below the cut line.

We expected more from Patton Kizzire who arrived at Congaree Golf Club after several strong results on the PGA Tour. Kizzire played the course at four over par during the first two days and missed the cut by three shots. Yes, the American missed the cut last week at the Memorial Tournament, but prior that posted two top 3s at the Charles Schwab Challenge and AT&T Byron Nelson.

The biggest surprise this week came from world number eight Brooks Koepka. He played the course over par in the first two rounds and missed the cut by two. The American took two weeks off after the PGA Championship where he tied for second. For sure this is not the week Koepka wanted to have prior the U.S Open. He is one of the favorites for next week’s event at Torrey Pines where he will be chasing his third U.S Open title.
