European Tour: Field in focus - Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika

This week’s Scandinavian Mixed is the historical first event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET). The field consists of 156 players and is equally split with 78 European Tour members and 78 LET members. They will be playing on the same course from the respective tees and will compete for one prize fund and one trophy. After the second round, the top 65 players and ties will make the weekend irrespective of gender.

Who are the favorites?

Sam Horsfield is the highest ranked male golfer in the field his week. The Englishman sits 86th in the world and he returns to action after two weeks off. The last time we saw Horsfield on the course was at the PGA Championship where he finished tied for 49th.

Joost Luiten slowly returns to the form which led him to six European Tour titles. The Dutchman was struggling with an injury, but it looks like this is in the past. Luiten is in good form and has five top 15s in his last six starts.

Ryan Fox will travel to Sweden with high confidence after a solid performance at the Porsche European Open. Fox shared eleventh place on the leaderboard after a solid 69 in the final round.

Form-horse

Atthaya Thitikul

Atthaya Thitikul is one of the most formidable talents in golf. She is only 18 years old, but already has some remarkable achievements. Thitikul won her professional tournament in 2017 when aged 14 won the European Thailand Ladies Championship and became the youngest winner of a professional golf tournament. She is T6-2-T4 in her last three starts and it won’t be a surprise if she continues to write history with her performance in Sweden this week.

Wildcard

Annika Sörenstam

I know, I know. Annika Sörenstam played only one professional tournament since 2008. But this is Annika Sörenstam and if anyone knows how to play this game this is the 72-time LPGA winner. Just imagine what a story it would be if Sörenstam win on home soil this week. She will have the support of home crowds so who knows, anything can happen 😊
